How To Make Your Family Cat Welcome The New Ragdoll Kitten

How To Make Your Family Cat Welcome The New Ragdoll Kitten
As most of you already know, having a new Ragdoll kitten is a life-changing event. Aside from adjustments that you have to make in your household and with your family members, if you already have a resident cat, this kind of change may yield to have unexpected results. For the most part, cats like people and being around them is not a problem. However, when it comes to another animal, they are cautious. Curious as they can be, when you bring home a new kitten, your resident cat can get territorial. It can throw tantrums or even display threatening behaviors to your new cat.To help you ease the transition of introducing a new pet in your home, here are some ideas for you to try out.First, be aware that this process will take time, patience and observational skills coming from you as the pet owner. Because both your kitties will feel threatened by each other, you should make it a point to comfort and soothe them during introduction. Keep petting them and show your affections freely to assure them that you are with them 100 per cent. Reward your resident cat with treats for positive behavior towards your new pet. This can help reinforce good vibes and bring about a smoother introduction. This is what I did when I adopted a new kitten and introduced him to my 6 year- old Ragdoll cat.
